Fabuwood Cabinets Review 2026: Quality and Lines to Avoid

Fabuwood is a good cabinet for most kitchens. Its Allure and Ovela series are built with plywood boxes, solid wood dovetail drawers and Blum soft-close hardware, and every current series carries a limited lifetime warranty. It is a semi-custom brand sold only through dealers, so it is neither the cheapest cabinet you can buy nor a custom one. The complaints we found most often are painted finishes cracking at the joints, warranty fine print and claims that have to go through the dealer, and delivery damage.

We are an authorized Fabuwood dealer, and our Alexandria showroom has sold the brand for more than a decade, so weigh our view with that in mind. Every spec below comes from Fabuwood’s own pages, and every complaint links to the post it came from. We rewrote this review in November 2026 with Fabuwood’s current series specs, its warranty as revised in March 2026, the cabinet tariff and new feedback from owners and installers.

The short version

  • For most kitchens, choose Allure (framed) or Ovela (frameless). Both have plywood boxes and solid wood dovetail drawers.
  • Illume has an engineered furniture board box and metal Blum drawers. If you want frameless with plywood, choose Ovela.
  • Quest and Value Premium are the narrow lines. Quest is partial overlay with two door styles; Value Premium is one raised-panel door.
  • The limited lifetime warranty covers the original owner and runs through your dealer. It excludes rental and commercial use unless Fabuwood approves it in writing, and it treats hairline cracks at painted joints as normal.
  • Fabuwood is not listed in KCMA’s directory of certified companies. Its Q12 program is its own standard.
  • Fabuwood does not publish prices. For what a kitchen costs, see our kitchen cabinet cost guide.

Is Fabuwood a good cabinet?

Yes, for most kitchens. The parts of a cabinet that fail first are the box, the drawers and the hardware, and on Allure and Ovela those are the strong points. The boxes are plywood with veneered wood interiors. The drawers are solid wood with dovetail joints, running on Blum under-mount slides that close softly. A Reddit commenter who says they have used Fabuwood many times called it the best brand that isn’t fully custom they have worked with. Not everyone agrees, and the complaints section below shows where the brand falls short.

So, is Fabuwood worth it?

It is worth it if you want painted or stained Shaker cabinets, a plywood box and a reasonably quick delivery without paying for custom work. It is a poor fit in four cases. If you want inset doors, none of Fabuwood’s door styles is inset. If the room needs many odd sizes, Fabuwood can build custom sizes by quote, but a custom shop may fit the job better. If the cabinets are going into a rental, the warranty excludes rental use unless Fabuwood approves it in writing. And if you need every component made in the U.S., Fabuwood says its cabinets combine U.S. and globally sourced parts.

Who is Fabuwood?

Fabuwood Cabinetry Corp is a cabinet manufacturer founded in 2009. Its company history credits Joel Epstein, now its CEO, with starting it as a 40-employee business, and describes its beginnings in a small Jersey City warehouse. A 2018 profile by the National Kitchen & Bath Association named Michael Panzer as Epstein’s partner and, at the time, chief executive. In 2024 Fabuwood acquired Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry, a custom cabinet brand.

Where are Fabuwood cabinets made? Fabuwood’s FAQ says they combine U.S. and globally sourced components, all assembled in the USA. Its headquarters and main plant are in Newark, New Jersey, a one-million-square-foot facility. The company says it has more than 1,400 employees and ships more than 5,000 cabinets a day. In January 2025 it also announced a manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico, and a distribution center in Southern California to serve the West Coast. Fabuwood does not say which countries its components come from. Our guide to how Fabuwood cabinets are made follows a cabinet from the design file to delivery.

Fabuwood does not sell to homeowners directly. You buy through an authorized dealer, who prices the order, handles delivery and files any warranty claim for you.

Construction: what’s inside the box

Construction depends on the series, and this is where most older reviews, including the earlier version of this one, get Fabuwood wrong. Not every Fabuwood cabinet is plywood. The table below follows Fabuwood’s own cabinet series and door style pages for each series.

Allure is the framed series. Solid wood face frames sit on veneered plywood boxes, shelves are ¾-inch plywood on metal clips, and a recessed plywood toe kick is built in. The drawers are solid wood with dovetail joints on Blum under-mount, full-extension slides. Doors have solid wood stiles and rails around an MDF center panel. MDF moves less than solid wood with humidity, which helps a painted door stay flat. We carry Allure, along with Quest and Value Premium, in our showrooms.

Ovela is the newest series. Fabuwood launched it in November 2025 as frameless cabinets with UV-veneered plywood boxes, recessed plywood toe kicks and dovetail drawers. It takes the same slab and wide-Shaker doors as Illume.

Illume is the European-style frameless series. Its box is engineered furniture board with a white linen laminate interior, joined with what Fabuwood calls Threespine Click Technology. Drawers are Blum’s Merivobox metal system, and the cabinets stand on adjustable legs. Frameless boxes have no face frame, so the openings are wider and more of the interior is reachable. Illume suits a modern kitchen, but if you want plywood under the sink, read the next section.

Quest and Value Premium are framed plywood lines with a short list of doors. Fabuwood says every cabinet it makes ships with Blum soft-close hinges and slides, but its site doesn’t give the drawer-box spec for these two, so ask your dealer for the spec sheet before you compare them with Allure.

On materials, Fabuwood’s sustainability page says its MDF is 100% compliant with the EPA’s and California’s CARB Phase II formaldehyde rules. Its Q12 program lists twelve quality standards, among them metal shelf clips, back panels that Fabuwood says are pressure-tested on Allure and Illume, Blum Compact Clip hinges and Blum Tandem plus slides. Q12 is Fabuwood’s own program, not an outside certification.

Is Fabuwood KCMA certified? Not currently. The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association’s certification is voluntary and is granted line by line, and Fabuwood does not appear in KCMA’s directory of certified companies. KCMA still hosts an older Fabuwood certificate from 2021, which expired on May 31, 2022. Not being listed doesn’t mean the cabinets would fail the tests. It means there is no current KCMA result to point to. Fabuwood does point to a different credential: in 2023 it announced that its Allure line had earned the Architectural Woodwork Institute’s Premium Grade qualification. Ask your dealer for current documentation of either.

Fabuwood cabinet lines to avoid

We don’t tell anyone to avoid a Fabuwood series outright. Each one is the wrong choice for some jobs, though, and these are the ones to think twice about.

Infographic of six Fabuwood choices to think twice about: Illume under a sink, Quest for a full-overlay look, Value Premium if you want choices, designer colors on a deadline, painted finishes in hard-use spots, and any series in a rental without written approval
When to skip each Fabuwood line, and what to choose instead.

Illume, if you want plywood under the sink

Illume’s box is engineered furniture board, not plywood. A slow leak under a sink is the classic test of a cabinet box, and Fabuwood’s own comparison of the two materials says plywood is more tolerant of accidental wetting, while engineered board can swell if water reaches an exposed core. Neither material is waterproof, the same post notes. If you want the frameless look, Ovela gives you the same doors on a plywood box. You can also ask your dealer about an Ovela sink base in an Illume kitchen, but Ovela’s recessed toe kick and wood interior won’t match Illume’s legs and white interior, so ask how the dealer will finish it.

Quest, if you want the full-overlay look

Quest doors are partial overlay, so more of the face frame shows between them. It is a traditional look that many buyers now see as dated next to full-overlay doors. Quest has two door styles, Metro and Discovery, and Fabuwood shows Metro in three finishes.

Value Premium, if you want choices

Value Premium is one door, the raised-panel Hallmark, and Fabuwood lists it in Frost, a white paint. It suits a budget kitchen that wants a classic white raised-panel door. If you want Shaker, a stain or a color, start with Allure.

Designer and custom colors, if you are on a deadline

Fabuwood sorts its finishes into tiers, and dealers say the tier sets the wait. In an April 2026 r/kitchenremodel thread, a dealer who carries eight brands put the lead times at about three weeks for regular colors, five for Signature colors and eight for designer colors. Custom colors took eight weeks after a color match that needs at least two more. The same dealer warned that one custom piece or designer color holds up the whole order. The dealer’s tier names don’t always match the ones on Fabuwood’s website, so ask which lead-time group your color falls in. If your schedule is tight, pick a regular color or split the order.

Painted finishes in hard-use spots

Fabuwood’s warranty says painted finishes can show joint lines and hairline cracks from seasonal wood movement, and treats them as normal. That is true of painted wood cabinets from any brand, but it is the most common complaint about Fabuwood that we found. One owner of Sage Green cabinets, a designer color, reported peeling within a year and a wait of more than eight months for a replacement panel. A retired custom cabinetmaker who now installs full time noted on Reddit that a chip in a darker paint shows the white primer underneath, and recommends stain over paint for busy households.

Any series in a rental, without written approval

Landlords do buy Fabuwood. One wrote on Reddit in March 2026 that it is their go-to for rentals. But the warranty does not apply to commercial, rental or multi-unit common-area use unless Fabuwood approves it in writing. Get that approval before ordering, or price the kitchen as if there were no warranty.

From our showroom floor

Before you settle on a door, ask which series it belongs to and which finish tier your color is in. The series decides the box, and the tier decides the ship date. Two kitchens with the same color name can differ on both.

Style and finish options

Allure has six door styles: Galaxy, Luna, Fusion, Echo, Nexus and the Luxe slab. Ovela and Illume share the Siena, Catalina and Tuscany doors and an aluminum-framed glass door. Fabuwood’s Galaxy page shows more than 30 finishes in two tiers, Signature and Designer, and Fabuwood marks five of the designer stains as new. If none of them fits, Fabuwood can paint to any Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams color, made to order, if your dealer offers it. Siena is new for Illume and Ovela, a slab door with a matte or textured surface.

Look at a full-size door in your own kitchen light before you order a white or neutral. One buyer who had ordered Linen wrote in October 2026 that they had read it can look too yellow once installed, and that a Dove sample looked gray-green in their kitchen. A commenter who installed Luna in Dove reported pieces in different shades of white, so check every piece of a painted order together when it arrives.

Every door Fabuwood lists is full, partial or modified full overlay. There is no inset option, so if you want doors that sit inside the face frame, you are shopping for a custom brand. Our Fabuwood vs. Shiloh comparison covers a brand that offers inset.

Sizes follow a standard catalog, and Fabuwood’s customizations brochure covers depth changes and other modifications. The 2026 brochure also offers custom-size Allure, Illume and Ovela cabinets, with the width, height and depth you specify, by custom quote. Its Custom Works program handles built-ins and one-off pieces through the dealer. Dealers say custom pieces can add lead time. Before you choose a finish, check Fabuwood’s discontinued list, which matters if you might add cabinets later. Two Imperio colors were dropped in March 2025.

Pricing: what to expect

Are Fabuwood cabinets expensive? They are mid-priced. Fabuwood sells semi-custom cabinets, which cost more than stock lines and less than custom shops. The company describes its product as premium cabinets “at an affordable price.” It does not publish a retail price list, and quotes come from dealers. Our kitchen cabinet cost guide covers what Fabuwood costs in more detail, along with national price ranges per linear foot.

Two things move a Fabuwood quote more than people expect. One is the door and series. The eight-brand dealer from the lead-time thread estimated in a July 2026 thread that switching one kitchen from Luna to Galaxy would probably save several thousand dollars. The other is what the quote includes. Make two dealers price the same list of panels, fillers, toe kicks and crown before you compare totals.

Quotes people post vary widely. On Reddit we found $8,500 for a 9×9 galley with customizations and $24,000 in cabinets alone for a medium-sized kitchen plus a laundry room. One shopper was quoted at least $5,000 less by an online seller than by local designers, while an owner in the $24,000 thread found prices within a few hundred dollars everywhere they asked. When you compare an online price with a local one, also compare who measures, who handles freight damage and who files warranty claims.

Tariffs matter too. Since October 14, 2025, imported kitchen cabinets, vanities and cabinet parts from most countries have carried a 25 percent Section 232 tariff, with lower caps for the EU, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and the U.K. The rate is scheduled to rise to 50 percent on January 1, 2027, except for countries that reach an agreement with the U.S. Fabuwood assembles in the U.S. from U.S. and imported parts, and it has not said how much of the tariff reaches its prices. If you find an old Fabuwood price list PDF online, it predates the tariff and may not match a quote today. Our cost guide has the full tariff table.

Real homeowner feedback

We read more than 30 Reddit threads about Fabuwood, plus Houzz, Better Business Bureau and contractor-forum discussions. Opinion is split, and the same few themes come up again and again.

The praise is mostly about how the cabinets hold up and how they install. A blogger at The Pink Dream wrote in May 2025 that her white Fabuwood kitchen, about seven years old, still looks and works like new. The only wear she noted was on the pull-out trash cabinet, the one opened most. The retired cabinetmaker quoted above also pointed out that Fabuwood’s solid half-inch backs keep outlets and plumbing fixtures secure, and in January 2025 wrote that they recommend Fabuwood to everyone and were putting it in their own kitchen. An installer in the first of those threads said the Blum hardware is worth paying extra for.

Painted finishes draw the most complaints. Owners describe hairline cracks, chips and, in a few cases, peeling at the joints of painted doors. BBB complaints from late 2024 and early 2025 describe paint claims rejected as normal wear and tear. In public replies to BBB reviews, Fabuwood has said hairline cracks at painted joints are cosmetic, common across the industry and usually not covered.

Whether quality has improved is disputed. On Houzz, a pro who says they “sell a lot of Fabuwood and have had little to no issues” wrote that all of their cabinet lines had problems in 2020 and 2021, coming out of COVID. The Reddit commenter quoted at the top of this review wrote in a September 2025 thread that “they used to have a pretty bad finish, but now it’s pretty good.” The newest posts are harsher. In an October 2026 r/cabinetry thread, two commenters who say they install cabinets called current Fabuwood poor, one calling it “apartment grade at best” after seeing the poster’s photos. We can’t verify any of these views, and pros clearly disagree, so judge the cabinets in a showroom yourself.

Delivery damage is the second theme, and the reports conflict. A dealer who sells Fabuwood alongside another brand wrote in September 2026 that their Fabuwood orders had arrived undamaged while the other brand’s had not. The eight-brand dealer from the lead-time thread saw little difference between brands and said standard replacement parts take about a week. A BBB reviewer wrote in July 2025 that most of their order arrived damaged and nearly all of the replacements did too, and in September 2026 a homeowner found a cracked lazy Susan and two more damaged cabinets after delivery. Open every box on delivery day and photograph damage before anything is installed.

Two smaller themes are worth knowing before delivery day. Stained wood varies, and Fabuwood’s warranty says so, but a piece that clearly stands out is a different matter. In a June 2026 thread about a Timber drawer front that didn’t match the rest of the run, commenters including a dealer said it was off enough to replace under warranty, and the owner later got a matching front. The other theme is unfinished wall-cabinet undersides, which surprised one owner in a long Reddit thread. Most commenters, including several in the trade, said that is standard across the industry. If the undersides will show, ask your dealer before ordering how to finish them.

Warranty coverage

Fabuwood’s limited lifetime warranty covers the Allure, Illume, Value Premium, Quest, Valencia and Ovela series against defects in materials and workmanship for the first residential purchaser. The lifetime terms apply to purchases on or after October 1, 2024. Allure and Illume bought before January 26, 2023, and Value Premium and Quest bought before October 1, 2024, stay on the older five-year warranty. If you bought Allure or Illume between those two dates, ask your dealer which warranty applies. Ovela was added in a revision dated March 17, 2026. Coverage applies to cabinets sold in the U.S. and Canada, and Fabuwood asks owners to register their cabinets on its warranty page.

Read the exclusions before you buy:

  • Rental, commercial and multi-unit common-area use, unless Fabuwood approves it in writing.
  • Removal and installation labor. Fabuwood repairs or replaces the part, and offers a refund or credit only if it decides repair or replacement isn’t practical.
  • Improper installation, modified cabinets, rooms without year-round climate control, and damage from direct sunlight, excess moisture or overloading.
  • Hairline cracks and joint lines on painted finishes, small panel shrinkage and slight door warp, which the warranty treats as normal.
  • Damage in transport or storage, which is why you inspect at delivery.

The warranty is not transferable to a later owner, though a builder can assign it to the first buyer of a new home. Claims go through the dealer you bought from, and Fabuwood may ask for photos, the part itself or an inspection before it approves one. If your dealer has closed, Fabuwood gives an email address for claims on its warranty page. Blum hardware carries Blum’s own warranty.

One more 2026 development: in May 2026, weeks after Wren Kitchens shut its U.S. operations, Fabuwood publicized a standing relief program for homeowners who lose a deposit when a cabinet company closes. It credits up to $3,000 of the lost deposit toward a Fabuwood order through participating dealers. It covers U.S.-based manufacturers and assemblers, not importers, and you must apply within 45 days of the closure, so for anyone affected by the Wren closure, that window ended in June 2026.

Fabuwood vs. the competition

Fabuwood competes with other dealer-sold brands in the stock-to-semi-custom range. We left prices out of this section. Most of these brands don’t publish them; IKEA does, but its flat-pack list prices aren’t comparable with an assembled dealer quote. The per-foot figures in the earlier version of this review had no source. The comparison below uses what each brand says about its own cabinets.

Sources: each manufacturer’s website, spec sheets and warranty documents, checked November 4, 2026. Forevermark’s specs come from its September 2023 catalog. “Not published” means we could not find the spec on the manufacturer’s own pages.

On third-party testing, KCMA’s certified directory lists Kith, Wolf and Waypoint’s parent, American Woodmark. It does not list Fabuwood, Forevermark or Cubitac. Kith’s and American Woodmark’s current certificates run through November 30, 2026.

Fabuwood vs. Forevermark

Forevermark is a brand of The Shekia Group in Edison, New Jersey. On construction the two are close: Forevermark’s 2023 catalog lists half-inch plywood boxes and backs, solid wood dovetail drawers, and soft-close hinges and glides on every style, without naming the hardware brand. It ships fast too, with assembled orders leaving the warehouse three to four days after confirmation, according to the catalog. A homeowner who bought both brands wrote in February 2026 that the Fabuwood was better quality. The bigger difference is the warranty. Forevermark’s own site gives two to five years, and its 2023 catalog limits painted finishes to two, against Fabuwood’s limited lifetime. More in our Fabuwood vs. Forevermark comparison.

Fabuwood vs. KraftMaid

KraftMaid offers far more door styles and wood species than Fabuwood, but it is several product lines under one name, sold through dealers and home centers, and the lines differ in box construction and warranty. Compare Fabuwood Allure with a specific KraftMaid line, not with the brand as a whole. Our Fabuwood vs. KraftMaid comparison walks through the lines.

Fabuwood vs. Waypoint

Waypoint Living Spaces is an American Woodmark brand, and American Woodmark has been a MasterBrand subsidiary since the two companies merged in May 2026. Like Fabuwood, Waypoint says its cabinets are assembled in the U.S. with global components. It lists dovetailed ⅝-inch drawers and its own CushionClose hinges, and doors in cherry, maple, paint and a foil-wrapped option. Two points favor Waypoint. Its warranty gives rental and commercial buyers five years instead of excluding them, and it is KCMA certified. Waypoint does not publish its standard box material, so ask the dealer whether the quote is plywood.

Fabuwood vs. Wolf Classic

Wolf Classic now comes in two series, Impact and Heritage. Wolf’s December 2025 sell sheet lists half-inch plywood sides, dovetail drawers and soft-close hinges and glides on both, with a half-inch back on Impact and a ⅜-inch back on Heritage. Wolf describes Impact as built in the U.S. from globally sourced components and Heritage as made in the U.S. It has eight door styles, fewer than Fabuwood. Residential buyers get a limited lifetime warranty and commercial buyers get five years. See our Wolf Classic review.

Fabuwood vs. Kith

Kith Kitchens is a family-owned cabinet maker in Haleyville, Alabama, with Kith, Eudora and KithOne lines plus the Mouser brand. Its advantage is finish range, with hundreds of standard finishes plus custom color matching, and it backs its cabinets with a lifetime warranty. KCMA’s certificate covers the Kith and Eudora lines. KithOne charges one price across all its construction styles, door styles and finishes, according to Kith. Kith does not publish box specs online, so get the spec sheet for the line you are quoted. Our Fabuwood vs. Kith comparison has more.

Fabuwood vs. Cubitac

Cubitac describes itself as a cabinet design, manufacturing and import company, with four series: Imperial, Prestige, Basic and Presto. Only Imperial specifies Blum hinges and slides; Prestige and Basic list soft-close hardware without naming a brand. Cubitac doesn’t publish box specs on its own pages, and it is not in KCMA’s directory. Compare Fabuwood Allure with Cubitac’s Imperial series, as we do in Cubitac vs. Fabuwood.

Fabuwood vs. IKEA

These are different products. IKEA’s Sektion frames are particleboard with a melamine finish and a fiberboard back, sold flat-packed for you to assemble. IKEA isn’t as bare-bones as its reputation, though: the Maximera drawers are steel, the hinges have built-in dampers, and the system carries a 25-year limited warranty. Fabuwood’s Allure and Ovela give you plywood boxes and solid wood drawers, usually ordered assembled through a dealer. The price gap can be smaller than you would expect: one owner priced Fabuwood at about $3,000 more than IKEA for their kitchen. IKEA suits a budget kitchen you are willing to assemble yourself. Fabuwood suits buyers who want plywood boxes without the assembly.

We have also compared Fabuwood with Shiloh, CNC Cabinetry and J&K.

The pros

  • Plywood boxes and solid wood dovetail drawers on Allure and Ovela
  • Blum soft-close slides and clip-on hinges
  • Available factory-assembled
  • A wide finish range on Allure, plus custom Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams colors through dealers that offer them
  • A limited lifetime warranty on every current series
  • Ship dates that one eight-brand dealer calls reliable

The cons

  • Painted finishes can crack at the joints, and the warranty treats hairline cracks as normal
  • Illume uses engineered furniture board, not plywood
  • No inset doors, and odd sizes need a custom quote
  • Designer and custom colors add weeks to the whole order
  • Rental use is excluded from the warranty without written approval
  • Not currently listed as KCMA certified
  • Sold only through dealers, so prices and service vary by dealer

Frequently asked questions

Is Fabuwood a good cabinet brand?

Yes, for most kitchens. Its Allure and Ovela series have plywood boxes, solid wood dovetail drawers and Blum soft-close hardware, and every current series carries a limited lifetime warranty. The complaints we found most often are painted finishes cracking at the joints, warranty claims that have to go through the dealer, and delivery damage. Designer and custom colors also add weeks to an order.

Which Fabuwood cabinet lines should I avoid?

No series is badly built, but each is wrong for some jobs. Skip Illume under a sink if you want plywood, because its box is engineered furniture board; Ovela gives you the same doors on plywood. Skip Quest if you want full-overlay doors, since Quest is partial overlay, and skip Value Premium if you want choices, since it is one raised-panel door in white. Avoid designer and custom colors on a tight schedule, and don’t put any series in a rental without Fabuwood’s written approval, because the warranty excludes rental use.

Are Fabuwood cabinets real wood?

Mostly. Allure, Ovela, Quest and Value Premium boxes are plywood, and Allure and Ovela drawers are solid wood with dovetail joints. Allure doors have solid wood stiles and rails around an MDF center panel, which stays flatter under paint. The exception is Illume, whose box is engineered furniture board with a laminate interior and whose drawers are metal.

Where are Fabuwood cabinets made? Are they made in China?

Fabuwood says its cabinets combine U.S. and globally sourced components and are all assembled in the USA. Its main plant is in Newark, New Jersey, and in 2025 it announced a manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico. It doesn’t name the countries its components come from, so it hasn’t said whether any of them come from China.

Are Fabuwood cabinets high end?

No. Fabuwood is a mid-range semi-custom brand: better built than most stock cabinets, with more finishes and modifications, but sold mainly in standard sizes, with custom sizes by quote, and with no inset doors. Fabuwood also owns a custom cabinet brand, Plain & Fancy.

Is Fabuwood better than KraftMaid?

It depends on which KraftMaid line you compare. KraftMaid offers more door styles and wood species, but its lines differ in box construction and warranty. Fabuwood Allure gives you a plywood box, dovetail drawers and Blum hardware in every configuration. Compare an Allure quote with a quote for a specific KraftMaid line, with the same box material, and see our Fabuwood vs. KraftMaid comparison.

Are Fabuwood cabinets expensive?

They are mid-priced. Fabuwood doesn’t publish prices, and dealers quote each kitchen. The series, door style, finish tier and modifications set most of the price. Our kitchen cabinet cost guide covers Fabuwood quotes and national price ranges per linear foot.

How long do Fabuwood cabinets last?

Fabuwood doesn’t publish a lifespan figure. Its limited lifetime warranty covers defects for the first residential buyer. One blogger reported her roughly seven-year-old white Fabuwood kitchen still looked and worked like new in 2025. Painted finishes are the part most likely to show wear, usually as hairline cracks at the door joints.

Does Fabuwood have a lifetime warranty?

Yes, a limited one. It covers the Allure, Illume, Value Premium, Quest, Valencia and Ovela series for purchases on or after October 1, 2024, with earlier cutoff dates for some older cabinets. It covers the original owner only, runs through your dealer and does not pay for labor. It excludes rental and commercial use unless Fabuwood approves it in writing, and it treats hairline cracks at painted joints as normal.

Is Fabuwood KCMA certified?

Not currently. Fabuwood does not appear in the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association’s directory of certified companies, and its last certificate on KCMA’s site, from 2021, expired on May 31, 2022. Fabuwood’s Q12 is its own quality program, not an outside certification, though Fabuwood says its Allure line earned the Architectural Woodwork Institute’s Premium Grade qualification in 2023. Fabuwood says its MDF complies with EPA and CARB Phase II formaldehyde rules.

How long does it take to get Fabuwood cabinets?

It depends on the finish. A dealer in an April 2026 Reddit thread put it at about three weeks for regular colors, five for Signature colors and eight for designer colors, with custom colors taking eight weeks after a color match. One designer or custom piece holds up the whole order. At IST, stocked configurations have an estimated ship date of five to seven business days.

Where can I buy Fabuwood cabinets?

Only from authorized dealers; Fabuwood does not sell to homeowners directly. IST Cabinets is an authorized dealer with showrooms in Alexandria and Fairfax, Virginia, Columbia, Maryland, Bear, Delaware, and Houston, Texas. Fabuwood’s website also has a showroom locator.

Can I install Fabuwood cabinets myself?

You can. Cabinets ordered assembled save you the box-building, while ready-to-assemble cabinets put the assembly on you too. Keep in mind that the warranty excludes damage from improper installation and never covers installation labor, and getting a full kitchen level and plumb takes practice. Our cost guide lists typical professional installation rates.

Final verdict

Kitchen with white Fabuwood Shaker perimeter cabinets, a gray island with a white top and glass pendant lights
A two-tone Fabuwood kitchen: white perimeter cabinets with a gray island.

Fabuwood is a solid semi-custom cabinet. Allure and Ovela give you plywood boxes, dovetail drawers and Blum hardware at a mid-range price, and the warranty is long, if narrower than “lifetime” suggests. The brand’s weak spots are painted finishes, the Illume box for wet areas, and lead times on special colors, and you can plan around all three. Choose the series for the room, choose the finish for how the kitchen will be used, and read the warranty exclusions before you sign.

The best way to judge it is in person. Open the drawers, check the box and the back, and compare a painted door with a stained one. IST Cabinets is an authorized Fabuwood dealer with showrooms in Alexandria and Fairfax, Virginia, Columbia, Maryland, Bear, Delaware, and Houston, Texas. We keep Allure, Quest and Value Premium in stock, with an estimated ship date of five to seven business days on stocked configurations. Contractors can see our trade program.

What changed in this update (November 2026)

We rewrote the construction section from Fabuwood’s current series pages. The earlier version said every Fabuwood cabinet was plywood and that Fabuwood was KCMA certified; Illume uses engineered furniture board, and Fabuwood is not in KCMA’s current directory. We removed price figures and a satisfaction percentage we could not source, corrected the warranty dates and exclusions, and added the lines-to-avoid section, the tariff and new owner feedback.
